Obtain meaningful in-person instruction and professional guidance through pre-class study materials, live classroom lectures, and real in-field home inspection training, Classes are taught by ASHI Certified Inspectors, and teach to the gold standards of home inspection, the ASHI SoP.
Learn from home inspector professionals who have completed at least 250 inspections and have successfully passed the National Home Inspectors Exam, NHIE, and are required to complete 20 ASHI Continue education credit hours each year! as required to maintain their certification. Upon completion of this program, you will have the tools you need to serve your clients and perform superior home inspections.
This 120-hour class runs Monday thru Friday for two weeks. You will go to at least five field events during this class. This class includes report writing, information on marketing your business, and real-life experience from your ASHI Certified instructors.
The 93-hour class runs six days, Monday thru Saturday and includes at least one field event. This class contains information offered in our 120-hour course, but at a faster pace. Our ASHI Certified instructors are experts in the field.

Discover how to perform home inspections following the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics.
The Pre-Licensing Home Inspection Essentials course covers a wide range of topics. It prepares learners for everything from inspecting appliances to determining fireplace clearances to effective report writing. As you advance through the program, you will gain intensive knowledge of your responsibilities as a home inspector through targeted lessons, a combination of audio and video instruction, and interactive activities. This online course does not include In-Field Training.
"Pending Approval" The Illinois-approved Home Inspection Essentials online course includes 5 Field training events with an experienced IL ASHI Certified Inspector. Students will practice inspection methods while gaining valuable insight into home construction, home systems integration, and defect recognition. Students will also practice reporting their inspection findings to potential clients in a home inspection report with a clear and concise narrative. Field event training is two and a half days of training, which should be scheduled after the completion of the course.
